The KCACTF Ten Minute Play Festival is a regional award program designed to support the work of student playwrights and directors. Directors of all experience levels are encouraged to apply. Up to six student directors are chosen for this project on the basis of experience and faculty recommendations.

These student directors will participate in auditions on the first full day of the festival, and participate in a group casting session with the other directors. During the festival, you will work with the student playwright, dramaturg, and actors to produce a concert reading focused on the playwright’s words and ideas.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with student artists from other schools — and can be a great springboard to the SDC Fellowship Program.

To be eligible a student must:

  • attend a school geographically located in Region IV
  • be a bona fide student at the time of the regional festival
  • have a letter of recommendation from a faculty member
  • complete a festival registration
  • submit a completed registration packet by the deadline

The registration packet must contain:

  • A letter of interest — why you are interested, how the experience will assist your growth as a director, and your current experience as a director
  • A letter of support from a faculty member that confirms your current enrollment in a participating college or University

Please send all materials by December 15, 2024 to:
