Devised Theatre Recognitions
We were impressed with the depth of the devised pieces this year. The varied styles and themes gave us a lot of material for our conversation as we look to place devising at the forefront of theatre making in our new reality.
Although we did not hold a formal gala this year, we did want to highlight two pieces as most emblematic of our conversation and thoughts.
Ensemble #1 – Belmont University – a piece addressing the point of view of women through our history, claiming the country we want.
Ensemble #2 – Florida International University – this selection deserves a special mention for pushing the boundaries in the digital medium, as we look at the future of our work in a multidisciplinary way.
