To all playwrights and advocates of new plays — It is our great pleasure to share with you this year’s call for submissions for the National Playwriting Program (NPP) events at the Region IV Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival which will take place in early February We are looking for new scripts (and for substantially rewritten scripts you have submitted before) in any of three categories: - ten-minute plays
- one-act plays
- full-length plays that have not been produced at a college or university in the region
The deadline to submit a ten-minute or one-act play is early November.
The deadline to submit a full-length play is early December. All scripts must be submitted through the KCACTF Submittable page at https://kcactf.submittable.com/submit. Be sure to indicate you are submitting for consideration in Region IV! Your script may be eligible for any of a number of special awards and honors presented by KCACTF. Visit the web page at https://www.kennedy-center.org/education/opportunities-for-artists/pre-professional-artist-training/kcactf/playwriting/award-categories to find out if your script might be eligible. For example, if your college or university is producing a new play that is written by a student, faculty member, or guest artist, and you enter the show as an Associate or Participating entry in the regional Festival, that script becomes eligible for a host of national awards, including the Kennedy Center’s prestigious David Mark Cohen Award. We want to know your stories. We want to learn from your voices. Take care and be well. And most of all, keep writing. Sincerely, Kim Stinson (kstinson@cvcc.edu) Region IV Chair, KCACTF National Playwriting Program David Beach (dbeach6@radford.edu) Region IV Vice-Chair, KCACTF National Playwriting Program |
