The KCACTF Ten Minute Play Festival is a regional award program designed to support the work of student playwrights and directors.

Directors of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

Up to six student directors are chosen for this project based on experience and faculty recommendations.

These student directors will participate in auditions on the festival’s first full day and in a subsequent group casting session with the other directors.

During the festival, you will work with the student playwright, dramaturg, and actors to create a concert reading showcasing the playwright’s words and ideas. Awards and prizes are available to the director who successfully brings their play to life.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with student artists from other schools — and can be an excellent springboard towards the SDC Fellowship Program.

To Be Eligible A Student Must:

The Registration Packet Must Contain:

KCACTF guidelines describe a ten-minute play script as being ten pages or fewer (in 12-point typeface, not including character information or title page.) The limit is ten pages. Please do NOT send us any more than ten pages in the belief that the runtime will be under ten minutes. We want ten pages OR FEWER.

Up to SIX ten-minute plays will be chosen as finalists by readers outside the region, and will be given rehearsed readings at the Region IV Festival. From these six, TWO finalists will be chosen for the national ten minute play festival at the Kennedy Center, and the playwrights will be asked to submit their scripts to the Kennedy Center for consideration.
